San Francisco tops a global index based on prices for high-end real estate around the world with its median asking price more than $1 million, according to the Knight Frank Prime Global Cities Index. The Index compares prime residential prices of the top 5% of the market in major global cities. The hottest luxury housing markets, based on where home prices rose by the highest amounts last year, are:
1. San Francisco: 14.3% (price rise)
2. Bangalore, India: 13.6%
3. Miami: 12.2%
4. Vancouver, Canada: 11.8%
5. Jakarta, Indonesia: 11.2%
6. Tel Aviv, Israel: 10.2%
7. Tokyo, Japan: 8.1%
8. Dublin, Ireland: 8%
