HireAHelper examined U.S. moving trends to determine where people were migrating to during the pandemic. They analyzed more than 25,000 moves booked in 2020. Scottsdale, Az. was the top city by net moves, with 68% more people moving in versus moving out. The high cost cities fared the worst, with San Francisco and New York having 80% more people leave than move there. The reason is that working at home requires more or different space that is unaffordable in the high cost cities. Arizona has always been the beneficiary of this movement, and COVID-19 has accelerated the trend of moving to Arizona cities like Scottsdale.
