WalletHub compared the pet-friendliness of the 100 largest U.S. cities across 23 key metrics using three main categories: Pet Budget, Pet Health & Wellness, and Outdoor Pet Friendliness. The criteria in Pet Budget included an analysis of veterinary care costs, the minimum pet-care provider rate per visit, and the cost of dog insurance premiums. The Pet Health & Wellness items included veterinarians per capita, pet caretakers per capita, and dog friendly restaurants per capita. Outdoor Pet-Friendliness considered things like weather and dog parks and trials per capita. Using these metrics Scottsdale came out as the best pet paradise in the U.S.
