The trend of upgrading outdoor space that began with the pandemic has continued. As noted in Emerging 2022 Design Trends, Part 1, landscape professionals surveyed say the size and scope of outdoor home improvement projects have increased since Covid. But which improvements will pay off the most at resale? According to 2023 Remodeling Impact Report: Outdoor Features survey from the National Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of Landscape Professionals, the following provide the most return: Outdoor kitchen – 100%; In-ground pool – 56% (not something common in Arizona); Landscape lighting – 59%; New patio – 95%; New wood deck – 89%; and a Fire feature – 56%.
