It’s not likely if you live in Arizona. But other states have high levels of fungus. Florida with its climate and flooding problems – and Mississippi, are basically tied for first with 38.76% and 38.66% of homes impacted by mold. Louisiana and Alabama come in second at 37.69% and 36.51%, with Tennessee in third at 36.51%. The lowest states are Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico all at approximately 25.5%. Arizona’s inclusion as one the of healthiest states is no surprise due to low rainfall and humidity. Our high temperatures and newer housing stock also contribute to the lack of potentially harmful mold. These factors make me think the percentage for Arizona is way high. In my experience, very few homes show any evidence of mold. So around 25% seems ridiculously high.
