The national immigration picture differs from that of Arizona. Our proximity to Mexico and Central America means that we are the beneficiary of more Latino migrants. So according to the 2021 census, that Mexico is Arizona’s number one immigrant group should be no surprise (in the U.S. it is China). But can you guess who is in second place? It’s India, which is a relatively new development (nationally India is 4th). In third are Canadians, which have always flocked to the Grand Canyon State in numbers twice as high as the national average. Fourth, fifth and sixth are the Asian countries of the Philippines, China and Vietnam. In seventh are Germans, which Arizona also has in a percentage higher than the national average. In ninth is South Korea and El Salvador is number 10.
