In part 1, I showed how lack of awareness of low-down-payment mortgage options can discourage potential buyers from trying to purchase a home. Historically only 5% of the purchase price is enough. And one way to get there is a government sponsored down payment assistance program, such as the AzHFA Home Plus Mortgage Program. Home Plus provides a non-repayable down payment assistance grant to Arizona home buyers to purchase a home under $357,000. And there are several more programs, and using them can result in big savings. In metro Phoenix, a joint report by RealtyTrac® and Down Payment Resource showed that the average down payment assistance amount was $19,067! Ask me for my list of these programs and their requirements to learn how to get your free down payment.
