Gen Xers are those born between 1965 and 1980, which means the oldest are turning 60 this year and may be ending their working career. ChamberofCommerce.org created a list of which cities are the most ideal places for Gen Xers to retire. The criteria used measured housing affordability, cost of living, tax friendliness, life expectancy, access to healthcare, migration, and crime rate. The Phoenix metro area has four of the top 10 cities on their list, with Gilbert No. 5, Scottsdale No. 6, Chandler No. 7, and Peoria No. 8. And according to the Census Bureau, Scottsdale is one of the top cities with the largest Gen X in-migration.
