Arizona ranked 49th in the country – meaning it’s the second cheapest state in the U.S. when it comes to monthly energy costs, beat out only by New Mexico. The average Arizona household will spend $400 per month on overall energy costs. Broken down, that’s about $152 for electricity, $69 for natural gas, $167 for motor fuel and $13 for home heating oil. The state with the highest monthly energy costs was Wyoming, where the typical household will spend $1,591 per month on energy utilities and other fuel-related fees. Second highest was North Dakota then Iowa.
