What is a CFD?
A Community Financing District is a method of paying for an improvement (like sewer lines) which benefits a number of properties. The impact on an owner of a home within a district is a periodic payment paid through the property tax collection process. CFD payments can be expensive and last for years. To ascertain whether a property falls within the boundaries of a CFD, go to the Maricopa County Treasurer’s Office, located at http://treasurer.maricopa.gov. Enter the property’s Parcel Number, and in the Tax Summary, click View Tax Details. If there is a CFD, it will be in the box titled Special Tax Districts. Make a more informed purchase decision – find out if a property you’re interested in is subject to a CFD.
