GOLF1Golf: Two pro golf tournaments have regular stops in Phoenix
PGA: The Phoenix Open. The Phoenix Open will return to the end of January in 2011. Same fun! Same location, the TPC Scottsdale. The Phoenix Open is the best-attended event on the PGA Tour, averaging more than 500,000 spectators. The PGA also holds the World Golf Championship-Accenture Match Play Championship  inGOLF3 February. This year the the tournament will be held February 23-27, 2011 at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain in Marana, Arizona.  The top 64 players in the world will battle for the Walter Hagen Cup.

TENNIS1Tennis:

  • Fed Cup - US v Argentina (USTA).  This quarterfinal match of the largest team tournament of its kind was held February 7 and 8, 2009 at the Tenns and Raquet Club in Surprise.

Play tennis at one of the many courts throughout the Valley.  Most resorts in the Valley offer tennis courts for their guests.  Tennis courts are also available through the public parks and rec organizations like Kiwanis in Tempe, Phoenix Tennis Center in Phoenix, and the City of Scottsdale

BASKETBALL2Basketball:

  • Phoenix Suns (NBA).  The Phoenix Suns have brought the NBA playoffs to US Airways Center 16 times in the past 18 seasons.
  • Phoenix Mercury (WNBA).  2007 WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury defeated the Detroit Shock in the best WNBA postseason in the 11-year history of the league.  You can see the Phoenix Mercury play at our own US Airways Center in downtown Phoenix.  
  • Glendale, Arizona has been named the new home of USA Basketball's headquarters and training operations. BASKETBALL1

Play basketball at any of the outside courts available at no cost or play indoors (fees apply) at any of the Village Clubs or YMCA's located throughout the Valley.

BASEBALL1Baseball:  

  • Cactus League Spring Training.  The Valley of the Sun is home to ten Spring Training, Major League Baseball franchises: San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers, Anaheim Angels and the Chicago White Sox . (The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies train in Tucson.)
  • Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), Downtown Phoenix's Chase Field is the home of the 2001 World Series Champion Arizona Diamondbacks.

HOCKEYGUYHockey:

  • Phoenix Coyotes (NHL).  The Coyotes play in the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, just north of the home of the Arizona Cardinals.  Tickets may be purchased directly from the Coyotes' website, or ask if we have any available, compliments of SimplySOLD Realty.
  • Phoenix Roadrunners (ECHL).  The Roadrunners are the third incarnation of the original WHA franchise, and  play atHOCKEY1
    the US Airways Center.

  • Arizona Cardinals (NFL).  Congratulations Cardinals Champions of the NFC! The Cardinals play in the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.  Home of Super Bowl XLII, is the only stadium in North America with both a retractable fabric roof and a roll-out grass field.
  • Arizona Rattlers (AFL).  Phoenix's Arena Football team plays out of US Airways Center.

Greater Phoenix is also home to college football’s Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, played in the University of Phoenix Stadium and the Insight Bowl, played in Tempe's Sun Devil Stadium.

     

ZOOS & AQUARIUMSaZOO

Looking for something to do why not visit one of our local zoos or aquariums?  Located in Papago Park and voted one of the "Top 5 Zoos for Kids", the Phoenix Zoo is sure to please.  Newer to the Valley, but worth a visit is the Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium.  The Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium offers Arizona's largest collection of exotic animals with over 3000 animals representing nearly 600 species.  Trying to beat the heat visit the Sea Life Aquarium at Arizona Mills Mall where you can dive in and be wowed by the many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep.
